• Access to the site does not require registration or account creation.

No account required

This site does not require you to create an account to browse content or submit an enquiry. Any subsequent engagement is arranged directly by correspondence, outside of the website itself.

Availability and changes

• The site is provided on an as-available basis; occasional downtime for maintenance may occur.
• Content, including pricing and offer descriptions, may be updated from time to time and reflects the terms in place at the time of viewing.
• Advisory services described on this site are intended for companies engaging with the Japanese market and may not be relevant outside that context.

Ownership of content

All text, design, and materials on this site are the property of Sunset Griffin Godo Kaisha unless otherwise indicated. Reports and written material delivered as part of a paid engagement are licensed for the client's internal use in accordance with the terms agreed for that engagement.

What the pages on this site are

The descriptions of entry routes, certification steps and distribution practice on this site are general. They are written to help a company decide which stage of work it needs, not to answer questions about a specific product. Regulations and category rules in Japan change, and a statement that was accurate when a page was written may not be accurate for your category today.

Nothing on this site is legal, tax, customs or investment advice. Where an engagement reaches a question that needs one of those professionals, we say so in writing and name the kind of adviser required.

Prices on the offer pages

The prices shown for each offer apply to a single product line entering a single market segment. A wider range, several segments or a tighter deadline changes the scope, and the price for that scope is agreed in writing before work begins. Using the site or sending an enquiry does not create any charge.

Using the contact form

The contact form is for a first description of your product and where you stand. Please do not send confidential material such as unpublished pricing or distributor agreements through it. If that material is needed, we will agree how it should be sent and who will see it.

Law, jurisdiction and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Osaka District Court has exclusive jurisdiction at first instance over any dispute arising from the use of this website. We may update these terms when the site changes; the version published on the day you use the site applies.

Illustrations used on this site

Where a page describes a typical situation, such as a product priced for one market meeting the expectations of another, the example is a composite written to explain the point. It does not describe a client, a real distributor or a real product, and it should not be read as a finding about any category.

English and Japanese sources

This site is written in English. Much of the material an engagement relies on, including regulatory texts, category standards and distributor listings, exists only in Japanese. Where the site summarises such material, the Japanese original prevails, and within an engagement we cite the original sources so that a client's own team or advisers can check them.

Other websites

Some pages point to public sources, such as ministry guidance or industry associations, so that readers can check a point for themselves. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or for changes made to them after we linked to them.

Photographs on this site

Photographs on these pages are stock images chosen to illustrate meetings and planning work. They do not show our clients, their staff or any prospective partner, and the people in them are not members of our team.

Where a page mentions a city or region, such as Osaka, it refers to where we work or the market being discussed, not to any client's location.
